Soils analysis conducted by engineer John Campbell showed that the earth below 55 Sheridan exhibited dangerous levels of liquefaction. That means that during an earthquake our foundation would surf. Apparently this is not atypical of our area. So he prescribed a treatment of grout injection through holes bored on five-foot centers down to a depth of forty feet, creating a giant solidifed [unliquefiable] soil ball upon which to mount our mat slab foundation. Here’s some pictures of the equipment, the operators and the process.
