Stair and Studio

We stopped by to have a look and couldn’t help but revel in the unusual SF heat. Construction crew had knocked off for the day so we declared hard hats optional. Final pan decking on the front of the building goes in over the coming week and in two weeks we should be pouring concrete on the upper floors. Stay tuned.

Remember this one? Special kudos to contractor Kevin Birmingham for capturing these 2001-esque images of the just-completed stair tower.

Stairs Climbing

Today Coyle Iron delivered and installed the third and fourth of the seven rectangular box sections that form the free-standing central stair tower. The lifting capacity of the largest crane that could fit on the property constrained the maximum design height of each section. Shown here, the Coyle Iron professionals lift and rotate the 8,000 lb. fourth section into place. Some observers have wondered aloud why the front section of the steel frame remained unfinished. This shot clears that up.

Probably my favorite Olle Lundberg quote is “you have to understand that I consider steel and concrete organic materials.” Credit for the center and left images goes to contractor Kevin Birmingham.  Happy Friday everyone!
